Economic Responsibility and Corporate Governance

For more than fifty years, SMA Mineral has developed a long-term stable business built on quality products, satisfied customers, and sustainable business relationships. We have a clear and strong set of values, and we meet our customers with expertise, reliability, and good business ethics throughout the entire value chain.

SMA Mineral's business concept is based on customer satisfaction, economic stability, and good business ethics. We adhere to laws and regulations and clearly communicate our own values both internally and in our interactions with the outside world.

Compliance with Laws

The company has a legal monitoring service that tracks selected legislation, which is acknowledged and communicated within the organization. All employees have access to the relevant legislation through the monitoring service, which also describes how the company is affected and how we meet the requirements. In addition to legal monitoring, requirements from other stakeholders are also monitored.

Whistleblower System

SMA Mineral's whistleblower system is available to both internal and external stakeholders, and all types of irregularities can be reported anonymously. Incoming cases are handled by a designated group, and providing feedback to the whistleblower is an important part of the process.

Supplier Follow-Up

Through regular surveys to our suppliers, our hope is to influence them to improve in areas that we consider important.
A basic requirement for being an approved supplier is to adhere to our supplier code of conduct, or alternatively, the company must demonstrate a code of conduct that is at least as comprehensive as our own. Based on the total result of the supplier assessment, it should be clear how well a supplier aligns with our business.

Customer Satisfaction

Customer surveys, both among SMA Mineral's and Svensk Oljeåtervinning's customers, are conducted at least every three years.

Code of Conduct and Anti-Corruption Efforts

In June 2022, we updated our two codes of conduct: one clarifying SMA Mineral’s stance on sustainability issues, and another for suppliers, outlining what we expect from them in the sustainability domain. The definition of sustainability here is broad and includes social responsibility, ethics, human rights, working conditions, the environment, etc.

Our codes of conduct are based on the UN Global Compact and its ten principles in the areas of human rights; labor rights, environment, and the fight against corruption. They also declare that SMA Mineral should be a competitive, fair, reliable, and responsible partner to our employees, customers, suppliers, stakeholders, authorities, and others in our external environment who interact with our company.

To achieve this, we actively work with climate and environmental measures. We advocate for good business ethics and strive for long-term and trust-based relationships. The code of conduct guides us by outlining our values and the expectations we set for employees and business partners.
