The Stucks limestone quarry on Gotland opened in 1930 and was operated by the Johnson Group until 1961. Since 1998, SMA Mineral has been mining at Stucks with a production capacity of approximately 800,000 tons of extracted rock. The operation is run with a modern fleet of machines, all equipped with the latest environmental technology.
After the stone is screened and sorted, it is transported to StrĂ¥ harbor for further loading onto ships for delivery to our customers, who are primarily located around the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Bothnia.
The limestone from the Stucks quarry is known for its high quality and purity. As a result, it is mainly used in the steel industry, which has very high demands for both the stone and its final products.
