Hello, Torbjörn! Tell me, what does a truck driver do at SMA Mineral?

- My main task is to transport loads between our facilities, mainly from Boda to Rättvik or Kullsberg. It's mostly internal transport because Kullsberg doesn't burn lime itself, but sends out large quantities to other locations. I drive the morning shift, and my colleague takes over in the afternoon – we share the same truck. Additionally, we try to fit in transports to treatment plants and heating plants when time permits.

When you accepted your current job, what attracted you the most?

- What attracted me the most was the flexible working hours, which are important for me as I have a family. I started in March 2024, but I had worked with SMA Mineral before through RST Kalktransporter between 2005 and 2014. Now that I'm directly employed, I can balance work and family life in a good way. I drive the morning shift and get home to spend time with my family and take my daughter to her violin lessons and bandy practices.

How many miles do you drive in the truck each month?

- I don't rack up as many miles on my routes, rather hours. I average about 500-600 miles per month, which is much less than before when I was driving 250-300 miles a week. This pace suits me better and gives me more time with my family, which I really appreciate!

We often call and talk to each other, exchange experiences, and help each other grow. For me, with my long experience in the field, it's also fun to be able to share my knowledge.
